Three months is a notoriously hard age to photograph babies…they’re not the sleepy, squishy newborns anymore, but they’re not yet sitting up. However, sweet little Walt made it so fun! He and his family came to visit me back in January, and I totally love the sibling shots we got. He also flashed us his super handsome smile quite a few times. The funniest part was trying to fit him into that little baby bed in the black and white photo, he was totally not into it ha!
Maxwell’s parents talked about how sleepy he usually is and about how they have trouble keeping him awake to EAT, especially during the daytime. HOWEVER…Max decided that deep sleep was not going to happen this day. We got him in the perfect pose on the bean bag, but the second I took my hands or his pacifier away, he started wiggling out of his pose. After being swaddled + a few feedings, we finally got him asleep and did all our wrapped prop poses. At the end, we tried again for naked baby, but he said no. Mom fed him one more time before they left…and we made the last minute decision to try again…SUCCESS! I had 2 minutes of him being happy on his tummy on the beanbag and that was all I ever wanted, haha! Thank you Max!
This is my sweet friend Val’s third baby! It took a lot of work to get Rori to sleep…we let her eat and she started snoozing, but then when I went to pose her, she decided she wanted to be awake! We found out the pacifier made her more awake, so we scrapped that idea. We decided to to swaddled poses first then, but then the problem became that she scowled whenever I had my light on her! We switched to natural light for awhile. At the end, we really tried hard for some beanbag poses on her tummy and it took a bit of work, but we prevailed! So much fun choosing out colors and setups, and getting to photograph this precious new addition…seems like just yesterday that we were announcing their pregnancy! Such a good little buddy! Logan slept through everything and even though he was a little wiggly, he let us get in all the poses we wanted. He totally didn’t mind all the noise and commotion of big brother Lincoln traipsing around the studio (and believe me, when you’re 2-years-old and confined to a single room for 2 hours, there’s a lot of “traipsing” going on!)…it almost seemed to calm him! Both these brothers are just precious and we even got to re-create one of Lincoln’s newborn photos from 2 years ago with Logan – check out the last two photos in this post. Also, please note the use of animal crackers to bribe Lincoln to take photos with Logan…and how Lincoln tried to feed one to the baby, ha!
Logan on top in 2019, and big brother Lincoln on the bottom in 2017.
Sweet Murphy Quinn is one! I hadn’t met this family before this session, but it was love at first sight, ha! They are the sweetest people and I loved hearing their story and the story of this sweet girl. Her momma came with all kinds of cute props and a couple cute outfits, and we spent our time celebrating Murphy! Her smile just makes you melt!
We had a streak of babies who just didn’t want to sleep! Maverick is super cute and squishy, but after we undressed him, he just didn’t want to miss out on anything. We ended up starting with family poses, and after a few feedings, he finally fell asleep. We got several swaddled poses out of him, then went to the bean bag to finish up. Big sister Myla was very entertaining and even serenaded us with some Justin Bieber!
So crazy that this sweet thing is getting so close to turning one! This was his 9 month session, back in January. Lincoln and his family moved to Colorado in the fall, and so I was happy to hear they would be back in town around the 9 month mark and wanted to do a session! We were even able to sneak outside for a few since it was a mild January day. I love that we ended the session in some jammies with his favorite pacifier – totally captured him at 9 months old!
Sweet little Milo was the cutest and had super soft little cheeks! I loved them! He was my first baby of 2019, though he was actually born just before the new year. He was a very calm baby but just did NOT want to fall asleep. We got some awake stuff, did all the family stuff, then really tried to get him to sleep. After awhile trying to outwit him for quite some time, I re-wrapped him super snug and had momma feed him. He finally dozed off and we got several cute wrapped poses but then when I went to unwrap him and do the naked baby stuff, he couldn’t settle. Then he decided to “go” everywhere and we were done! Ha! Sweet little guy, he’s one lucky baby brother with all those big siblings!
Well friends, we’ve made it! This is the last session I had in 2018, so we are caught up to the present year finally! Miss Blakely was born just before Christmas, and I was able to meet her on the 27th for a quick newborn shoot! I photographed Blakely’s parents’ wedding a few years ago (and even her momma’s senior photos!) and was SO excited to hear that they were expecting. Blakely is just as sweet as could be expected. She didn’t want to go to sleep during the first part of our session, but I was able to sneak some photos in between her opening her eyes. Then she got hiccups so momma fed her and she was able to finally catch some Zzzz’s. She fought us a little on the last pose (on her tummy) but we were successful and got the sweetest photos of this little lady!
