Parker | Senior

I don’t do a whole lot of seniors anymore, but I was beyond excited for this session! Parker is my nephew and he drove in from Ohio with his mom and sister at the beginning of this month to hang out with us all for a week and to get his senior photos taken. Parker’s mom and my husband are brother and sister…I started dating Adam when I was 16 and Parker was not even 1. We have some really cute photos of Adam and I with Parker and his sister Emily back in those good old days. I’ll post a few at the end because we had to recreate them, of course! But first, here is my handsome nephew!

So here is Adam as an 18-year-old with a 1-year-old Parker on the left. And Adam as a 33-year-old with a 16-year-old Parker on the right!

And then 16-year-old me with baby Emily on the left, and 32-year-old me with 15-year-old Emily on the right. So fun!

For a little extra enjoyment, here are some sister pictures that Adam’s two sisters (Jessica and Chrystal) and I did during Parker’s session. We like to think we’re funny.

Kira’s 30th Birthday {A Tea Party}

Adam and I are good friends with Kira’s stepdad Keith, and when he contacted me about photographing Kira’s birthday party, I didn’t think too much of it. But when I arrived…holy canoli. Kira had planned an elaborate Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party in a beautiful garden. There were so many fun details to photograph, I was in heaven! In addition to the details, I got to have a little pre-party photo shoot with the lovely Kira (who does NOT look 30), who made all the food herself! Her party-planning and cooking abilities were perfectly on-point. There was live music from the uber-talented Lacey Cruse, cake, friends, family, and all-around gorgeousness. I can’t describe it, so I will let the photos do the talking! Happy Birthday Kira!

Styled Wedding Session

Towards the beginning of the year, I had an idea to do a photo shoot that was completely for myself. I photograph other people nearly every day (which I love!), so I felt inspired to do a shoot that was for me: my ideas, my taste, my preferences. The idea of shooting to please no other person seemed wonderful. The shoot ended up transforming beyond what I originally planned into a styled wedding session complete with a bride, groom, and bridesmaid. A lot (I mean a LOT) of things went wrong along the way. There was stress and hot glue gun burns and sickness (I had no voice the day we were shooting!). There was laughing and dress shopping and dinners to discuss details.ย  I found the most wonderful location about 2 days before, got permission from the owner, and everything was set! I got to work with some amazing people and I’m so proud of what we created. Without further ado, please enjoy this romantic styled wedding session…among the Bradford Pears.

Courtney & Don {One Year Anniversary}

Courtney wanted to do photos with her husband in their first home together on their first anniversary before they move to another house. What a great idea! I really wish I would’ve done this in my first house with Adam because memories fade but you would always have these photos to look back on. I met them at their home on a super rainy and dreary Tuesday, and we even ventured outside for a few soggy front porch and motorcycle photos. Congrats on 1 Year, Courtney and Don!

Bel Amour Events {Styled Shoot}

This was something new to me…I’d never shot a session before with models and a styled set. It was so much fun! It was all the gorgeousness of a wedding without the time restraints, and I was able to make all kinds of decisions about angles based on the best lighting. Faith over at Bel Amour Events is so awesome at what she does. She was contacted by Wedding Star magazine to put together a beautiful set up that would feature some of their products for their website. Her vision came together wonderfully and I must say that Ashley and Zach made stunning models. Without further ado, here are a few of the many photos we took! (Vendor list following the photos.)

Fall 2014 Digital Images Sale!

EIGHT. This October marks 8 years of Gina Dreher Photography. I can’t believe it! Thinking back about the people I’ve met, countless relationships I’ve formed, and thousands upon thousands of photos I’ve taken…I can’t help but be grateful to all of you wonderful people for letting me capture memories for you. Not to mention the added perk that you all help put food on my table! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you, thank you. On that note, let’s have a sale!

I generally do a Fall Sale on digital images annually; if you’ve been waiting for that, wait no more!. Digital images are high resolution, edited files from your portrait session that you may post online or make prints from. The details:

*Full session negatives may be purchased for $175 (regularly $275).

*The remaining images from Mini sessions may be purchased for $75 (regularly $125).

*There is no sale price for purchasing individual negatives, these prices apply to your session as a whole.

*This sale may be taken advantage of for future sessions in 2014.

*New this year: you have the option of receiving your images online via Dropbox instead of on a disc…which saves you a trip to pick up the disc! If you don’t know about Dropbox, just ask! It’s easy peasy.

The Browns Say Goodbye to their First Home

My long time friend and client Jen and her cute little family are moving out of their first house, on to bigger and better things. She asked if I could stop by to grab a couple quick photos of their last night at their house. I love that Jen knows how important it is to document these things…I wish I had a photo of Adam and I in front of our first home! Bennett Bear also posed with his backpack for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Danielle {…let your heart take courage…}

I met Danielle a couple of years ago when she booked a family session with me. I’ve done at least two photo sessions each year with her since then and I have to say she is one of the sweetest people I know. This March, Danielle was diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s young, healthy, and loves the Lord. Why this happened to her I’ll never know…it just blows my mind. Through it all, Danielle has had such an amazing support system of family and friends. And she is undoubtedly going to kick cancer’s behind because her faith in Jesus is phenomenal. Click here to read more about her take on this journey, but holy cow…her strength is otherworldly.

Danielle had a double mastectomy at the beginning of April. She started chemo at the beginning of May. She decided that instead of waiting for chemo to take her hair, she’d make a celebration out of shaving her head. Several of her family and friends joined her. I had the privilege of taking photos of the party. There were a few tears, a lot of laughs, and I lost count of the bald heads. Thanks so much Danielle, for letting me be a part of this, for trusting these memories to me, and for letting me share your story. And thanks for letting my little Ren tag along…he enjoyed the experience too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I took before and afters ofย  most everyone, and even jumped in for a photo with Danielle myself. Such a cool thing to be a part of. This is the way to fight!

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” Psalm 31:24

Spring Sessions Are Nearly Full!

Are you thinking of having your family photos taken this spring? I know we’re not inclined to think that far ahead during these cool winter months. BUT I wanted to let you know that due to my upcoming maternity leave and limited schedule when I come back to work, spring photo sessions are nearly full!

April is full and May is nearly full…there are just a few May sessions left towards the end of the month.

As a reminder, I will only be taking a handful of sessions per month after our new son arrives in order to maximize time with my family. But I still really really want to take your photos! So please schedule your session ASAP to insure you get a spot, and please be flexible with me since my schedule tends to be a bit crazy.

And a big thanks to you all for letting me into your lives time and time again. I love capturing your memories and hope I can continue to for years and years to come!
