Cannon ate as soon as he got here and then fell asleep for the rest of our 2.5 hours together. His momma brought some fishing props that had been used at big brother Hunter’s newborn session, and we got the sweetest pose with that setup. Cannon gave us a few well-timed grins that we died over. Hunter was so amazing for being so young…he played with toys, helped my assistant Jess find a stick in the yard to use as a fishing pole, and held his brother when we asked him to, he even flashed us a few smiles! It was wonderful to meet this family and such a joy to do newborn photos for them.
I mentioned this on my Instagram (@ginadreherphoto), but have to also write it here! This family…I met them for the first time at Lincoln’s newborn session, and then we did 3-month photos, and we just finished our Bundle last month with his 6-month session. At the 3-month session, they told me it was a possibility they’d be moving out of state, and when they showed up for this session, I learned that I was their very last stop in Kansas before they hit the road to their new home! We had so much fun with Lincoln, and even snuck in some naked baby poses. Don’t miss the last photo in this post…so classic and CUTE! Thanks to Kelsey and Kevin for trusting me to capture your first baby’s first 6 months!
This little dude…I don’t even know what to say. SO smiley! I was worried at first because Ryder seemed to struggle against the swaddle I was putting him in and was very wiggly, but after he got used to the it, he zonked out and slept through the whole thing! He did extremely well and we only had to soothe him a few times, feed him once…but he even slept through his diaper change. Mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa were all there and were just smitten with their perfect little guy. We are all in love!
I can’t even believe that the day we took Riley’s photos was HOT since our weather has been cold lately, but it was. And she was such a happy lil thing despite the sweatiness. She gave me a ton of smiles, endured several wardrobe changes, and did a mean superman whenever we would put her on her belly. I especially love the mustard romper in this first set of photos (available in my Client Closet if you want to use it for your baby’s photos!). So fun to see her personality coming through. Excited to see her again at her 1 year session!
Jayme is the most gorgeous expectant momma! This was the first session of September that really gave me the fall vibes out here at the homestead, and I was loving it! Big bro wasn’t too excited about having photos taken, but I think we won him over. The good thing about maternity photos is that if big siblings need a break, you can always focus on just momma for a bit! Thanks for having me take these Jayme…your baby girl is going to be gorgeous!
Bowman was such an awesome little model! When we started, he did NOT like some of the poses we attempted, so we followed his lead and he rewarded us by just being floppy and awesome. He slept through almost everything we did and loved being swaddled. Mom only wanted two things: photos with a special blanket her grandma had made (see the last photo – where he SMILED!), and photos with the giant Pooh bear. We accomplished both and got a bunch of bonus poses as well. This family’s story is so sweet and this baby is so precious, I am so happy for them!!
Kayla and I met early this year when she took a camera class from me. We had an awesome day talking about everything under the sun. I was so excited when she contacted me to tell me that she and her hubby were expecting! We took maternity photos a few weeks back, and she’s so tiny that I kept having to tell her to stick out her belly, haha! I’m so happy for them, and can’t wait for newborn photos in November!
It is absolutely impossible to me that this little baby is already one! These people are some of my nearest and dearest, so I still remember Tara telling me she was having a GIRL after we’d bonded over being mommas of boys for so long. And then that sweet baby girl was born and we were as girly as we could possibly be for her newborn session (click here to see!). Now that tiny nugget is ONE and still pretty tiny, but awesome and sassy as well (check out the sass in the last photo). 🙂 This session was on the same evening as my previous post, so we were checking the forecast ALL DAY and decided to just do it. We got that beautiful overcast light, and the kids did great. Pennington was most definitely over it towards the end, but I love the hilarious faces we captured. Happy birthday P! You are so very loved!
We were debating all day about whether or not to go forward with Rachel and Greg’s session a few weeks ago. It had been rainy on and off, plus overcast and dark. But they were willing to be adventurous, and my schedule is nuts, so we decided to go ahead and WOWZA I’m so glad we did! I stopped on the way and got a black umbrella to use. It sprinkled on us right at the beginning so we got to use the umbrella (see the first photo below), but then stayed pretty dry the rest of the time. I love the overcast light we had this evening, and how green everything was next to Rachel’s pop of color in her pink dress. So excited to meet and photograph this baby next month!
Frankie is such a dream baby! If every newborn slept like Frankie, I could get these sessions done in an hour or less. 🙂 We took a little longer because we were able to be super picky and tweak every little detail since she slept so well. It was especially nice to have my assistant Jessica because she was able to be a second set of eyes to make all the details perfect. Frankie started getting mad at us during the last pose – the lineman setup – but who can blame her? We stuffed her in a pocket. Ha! I absolutely love that we were able to do the lineman photos since Frankie’s daddy is a lineman…so sweet. She is such an amazing baby, and I felt so so blessed after this session. It’s been neat to see her family’s journey, from their engagement, to their wedding, to family photos, and now newborn photos! I just love it!
