Maxwell’s parents talked about how sleepy he usually is and about how they have trouble keeping him awake to EAT, especially during the daytime. HOWEVER…Max decided that deep sleep was not going to happen this day. We got him in the perfect pose on the bean bag, but the second I took my hands or his pacifier away, he started wiggling out of his pose. After being swaddled + a few feedings, we finally got him asleep and did all our wrapped prop poses. At the end, we tried again for naked baby, but he said no. Mom fed him one more time before they left…and we made the last minute decision to try again…SUCCESS! I had 2 minutes of him being happy on his tummy on the beanbag and that was all I ever wanted, haha! Thank you Max!
The first time I photographed Natalie and Garrett was at their wedding. Fast forward ten years, and I have now had the honor of photographing each of their 3 baby girls as a newborn and throughout their first year! We finished up Violet’s baby bundle for her one year session at a coffee shop! So much fun to use this unique backdrop. I love all the pretty bokeh the lights created, and the colors that Natalie dressed everyone in were perfect! After the coffee shop, we stopped at my studio to do a few studio shots, including the watermelon setup for her birthday invitations. And you absolutely CANNOT miss the last series in this post…scroll down to see!
At Natalie and Garrett’s wedding in 2009, we took the first photo, on the left. Natalie asked me to re-create it at Izzy’s 1st birthday session which was also the year they celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary. She remember to have me take an updated shot this time, for their 10th anniversary! So fun to see them all together.
I took Sara and Aaron’s engagement photos a few years back, so I was really excited to hear from Sara again when she contacted me to tell me she was pregnant! We did a quick Homestead Session to announce their happy news, and Sara brought lots of cute accessories. We are doing her maternity session next week, and I can’t wait to see that bump!
So crazy that this sweet thing is getting so close to turning one! This was his 9 month session, back in January. Lincoln and his family moved to Colorado in the fall, and so I was happy to hear they would be back in town around the 9 month mark and wanted to do a session! We were even able to sneak outside for a few since it was a mild January day. I love that we ended the session in some jammies with his favorite pacifier – totally captured him at 9 months old!
Sweet little Milo was the cutest and had super soft little cheeks! I loved them! He was my first baby of 2019, though he was actually born just before the new year. He was a very calm baby but just did NOT want to fall asleep. We got some awake stuff, did all the family stuff, then really tried to get him to sleep. After awhile trying to outwit him for quite some time, I re-wrapped him super snug and had momma feed him. He finally dozed off and we got several cute wrapped poses but then when I went to unwrap him and do the naked baby stuff, he couldn’t settle. Then he decided to “go” everywhere and we were done! Ha! Sweet little guy, he’s one lucky baby brother with all those big siblings!
Well friends, we’ve made it! This is the last session I had in 2018, so we are caught up to the present year finally! Miss Blakely was born just before Christmas, and I was able to meet her on the 27th for a quick newborn shoot! I photographed Blakely’s parents’ wedding a few years ago (and even her momma’s senior photos!) and was SO excited to hear that they were expecting. Blakely is just as sweet as could be expected. She didn’t want to go to sleep during the first part of our session, but I was able to sneak some photos in between her opening her eyes. Then she got hiccups so momma fed her and she was able to finally catch some Zzzz’s. She fought us a little on the last pose (on her tummy) but we were successful and got the sweetest photos of this little lady!
This was our last session in our Baby Bundle for little Bennett’s first birthday, and it has been so fun to see this family as they have gone through so many big milestones! I was honored to photograph their engagement + wedding, and now both of their boys first year. Grandma and grandpa came along to the session and jumped in a few photos as well. The highlight was bringing out the old dump trucks for the boys to play with, and getting a little ride on a sled from dad at the end!
Oh, sweet Wilmer Dean. He was born just before Christmas, and we heard that mom and dad had sung him Christmas carols as loud as they could on the way to our session in order to keep him awake. But he still wanted to stay awake to see what was going on when he got to the studio. Mom fed him and then we ended up wrapping him and he fell asleep for awhile. We were able to get in all of our prop poses. We decided to do the beanbag last and he was NOT a fan of being on his tummy. I finally won the battle and got ONE beanbag pose out of him and then we decided to call it a day. Sweetest little squish ever! Such a cutie!
Isn’t this the cutest family!? Even though I mentioned this in her 6 month post, I just can’t get over Evie’s transformation from tiny 5-pound newborn to this awesome little chunk. Her cheeks are my favorite thing. Evie didn’t have any smiles for me during her session, but you gotta check out the studio portion of our session to see some of the faces she gave me. It has been such a fun year, and we are extra thankful for Evie’s health after a recent scare she gave her momma and daddy. Evie is one special little sweetie!
